Manufacturer information

The Carrie illustrates how cargo-bike design can address limited storage space. Riese & Müller lists an overall length of 209cm and Basic Box external width of approximately 43cm. The optional Flex Box changes from approximately 46cm wide when closed to 75cm when open.

The loading-surface limit is 80kg, while the gross vehicle weight rating is 200kg. These describe different limits: the overall rating includes the bicycle, rider and load. Individual carrying limits cannot simply be added without checking the total.

The current manufacturer page states that only limited stock remains at specialist retailers. This is therefore a design case study, not a claim of a new launch or widespread availability.

Industry interpretation

For utility e-bike development, assess cargo space together with parking width, access through doors and the loading process. Large capacity is less persuasive when everyday storage is inconvenient.

A dealer demonstration could show the box closed, then loaded with shopping, then fitted with approved passenger accessories. This makes the trade-offs visible and avoids presenting optional equipment as standard.

In B2B quotations, separate the base bicycle, cargo box, passenger equipment and weather protection. Clear package descriptions make supplier comparisons more useful and reduce confusion about what a product photograph includes.
