Germany’s e-bike market showed a measured recovery in the first half of 2026. In its September review, industry association ZIV reported that e-bike sales increased by around 2% from a year earlier, while domestic e-bike production rose by more than 4%.

The association said excess inventory had largely been cleared, although retailers remained cautious about placing orders. Combined exports of bicycles and e-bikes increased by more than 6%; that figure covers both categories rather than e-bikes alone.

Repair workshops remained busy, with shortages of skilled staff still a constraint. ZIV also reported growth in replacement parts and accessories.

Industry implications

For suppliers, this suggests a case for selective replenishment and dependable service support. Importers can pair a focused model range with readily available wear parts and clear warranty procedures. The figures support a cautious recovery story; they do not establish that every e-bike segment or European country is growing.
