Germany’s bicycle and e-bike sector entered the second half of 2026 on firmer footing after several years of inventory correction. ZIV – German Bicycle Industry reported that e-bike production in H1 2026 rose by more than 4% year on year, while e-bike sales increased by around 2%. Exports of bicycles and e-bikes combined were more than 6% above the same period of 2025.The inventory picture is equally important. ZIV says surplus stock has largely been reduced, although retailers remain cautious with new orders. That suggests the market is moving away from emergency clearance and toward more normal buying cycles. Dealer workshops also remain busy, while demand for wear parts and accessories is developing positively. For suppliers, the message is recovery with discipline rather than a return to uncontrolled volume growth. Buyers are likely to prioritize clear retail positioning, dependable delivery, compliant electrical systems, serviceability and reliable spare-parts support.Key industry takeaways· E-bike production: more than +4% year on year in H1 2026.· E-bike sales: about +2% year on year.· Bicycle and e-bike exports combined: more than +6%.· Excess inventory has largely been reduced, but dealer ordering remains cautious.
