Bosch eBike Systems says U.S. riders have logged an estimated 62 million miles on e-bikes equipped with its smart system. More than 52 million miles were directly measured from riders who opted into activity tracking and connected-bike odometer data through the eBike Flow app; Bosch then conservatively extrapolated the figure across the broader U.S. smart-system fleet.
The data covers roughly three years because the first smart-system e-bikes reached the U.S. in 2023. Bosch says the riding mix includes commuting, errands, school runs and mountain biking. That makes the figure useful for the industry because it describes actual post-purchase usage, not only retail transactions.
The story also highlights the shift toward connected ownership. Bosch’s ecosystem supports over-the-air updates, anti-theft functions, ride statistics, navigation and customization. For brands and OEMs, app stability, firmware support and security features are increasingly part of the competitive benchmark alongside motors, batteries and frames.
