Industry Update
Bike Europe, citing Eurostat data, reported that the European Union imported about 422,000 e-bikes during the first six months of 2026. That was 36% higher than in the same period of 2025. China accounted for about 41% of those imports, a sharp increase in share compared with previous periods and evidence that sourcing patterns are shifting again as buyers focus on price, availability and product mix.
Key Numbers
· EU e-bike imports in H1 2026: about 422,000 units.
· Year-on-year growth: +36%.
· China’s share of EU e-bike imports in H1 2026: about 41%.
Market Analysis
The increase suggests European distributors are rebuilding selected inventory after a long destocking cycle, but they remain highly cost-sensitive. Rising Chinese share also indicates that competitive pricing and short product-development cycles are regaining importance. Importers will still need to manage anti-dumping duties, product classification, CE obligations and battery regulations carefully.
B2B Takeaway
Chinese OEMs should focus on compliant configurations, transparent origin documentation, accurate HS classification, battery traceability and landed-cost calculations. A lower FOB price alone is not sufficient for serious EU importers.
