European Union electric-bike imports accelerated sharply in the first half of 2026. Bike Europe, citing the latest Eurostat data, reports that the EU imported 422,000 e-bikes during H1 2026, up 36% from the same period in 2025. China accounted for 41% of those imports, making it the largest source country. The shift is particularly notable because China’s share had already climbed to 47% in the first quarter of 2026, compared with 31% in Q1 2025 and 17% in Q1 2024.

Why it matters for the industry: For manufacturers and B2B exporters, the figures point to renewed European demand for competitively priced e-bikes and a changing sourcing mix. At the same time, Chinese-origin e-bikes remain subject to EU trade measures, so pricing, TARIC classification, importer structure and compliance need to be evaluated market by market.
