At CES 2026, Bosch announced a free eBike Flow feature allowing owners to flag compatible e-bikes and batteries as stolen. The company said it would become available from the end of January.
The flag is shared across Bosch’s digital ecosystem. People attempting to connect through the app receive a warning, and dealers can see the status in the DiagnosticTool. App connection is blocked for flagged bicycles, preventing access to features such as over-the-air updates and personalised riding modes.
Only the registered user profile can remove the marking. This announcement concerns digital identification within Bosch’s system; it does not promise that physical theft is impossible.
Industry implications
For used-bike retailers, digital ownership checks can complement purchase invoices, frame numbers and condition inspections. A clear account-transfer procedure should become part of handover. Buyers also need an explanation of which functions are included, which require compatible hardware and which depend on separate subscriptions.
