What happened
Bafang is presenting the production versions of its M510RS and M560RS racing-sport eMTB drive systems at the International Bike Festival in Misano, Italy, ahead of mass production in Q4 2026. The platform adds a 6-axis IMU, higher-precision sensing, adaptive Sport+ assistance, Hill Hold, Walk Assist 2.0 and a short-duration Boost-to-Limit mode. Bafang states 110 Nm peak torque for M510RS and 120 Nm for M560RS before the higher short-burst figures enabled by Boost-to-Limit.
Why it matters
The launch illustrates how eMTB differentiation is shifting from raw motor output toward sensing, software tuning, terrain response and ecosystem integration. For bike OEMs, compatibility with existing M510/M560 mounting interfaces may reduce frame redesign costs, while EU- and U.S.-compliant versions allow brands to regionalize speed and performance configurations.
Business takeaway• Software, sensors and ride feel are becoming major motor-system selling points.• Shared mounting interfaces can shorten OEM development cycles.• Market-specific compliance settings remain essential despite high peak-performance figures.
