Germany remains one of the world’s most important e-bike markets, and 2025 data published in March 2026 shows a market that is correcting from the pandemic boom without losing its structural strength.

German bicycle-industry associations reported around 2 million e-bikes sold in 2025. E-bikes accounted for 52.7% of the bicycle market, while more than 17 million e-bikes were already on German roads. Even as total unit sales softened, e-bike exports rose by 12%, suggesting that German and European suppliers are increasingly looking beyond domestic retail demand.

The data also points to a major shift in where value is being created. Company-bike leasing remains a stabilizing force: about 2.2 million bikes were in leasing fleets in 2025, and more than 340,000 employers offered bike leasing as an employee benefit. At the same time, returned lease bikes are creating a real refurbishment market, with annual refurbished-bike sales reported to have increased by roughly 192% since 2023.

After-sales service is another growth area. Workshop revenue rose 13% in 2025, reinforcing the importance of spare parts, diagnostics, battery servicing and dealer support. For manufacturers and B2B suppliers, the message is clear: the opportunity is no longer only in selling a new e-bike. Long-term serviceability, parts availability and strong dealer support are becoming central to winning European accounts.
