According to ZIV, bicycle production increased by 6% compared with the same period a year earlier and total bicycle sales rose by close to 10%. E-bike production increased by more than 4%, while e-bike sales improved by around 2%. The industry also reported that excess inventories have largely been reduced, a key sign that the market is moving toward a healthier supply-demand balance.
Key Numbers
· Bicycle production: +6% year on year in H1 2026.

· E-bike production: more than +4%.

Market Analysis
The recovery is not a return to pandemic-era growth, but it is important for manufacturers and suppliers because stock pressure had been one of the biggest problems in Europe. Dealers are still ordering carefully, yet lower inventories reduce the need for aggressive discounting. For OEM factories, this can translate into more predictable purchasing cycles and better opportunities for new-model introductions in 2027.
B2B Takeaway
For suppliers targeting Germany and nearby EU markets, emphasize fast replenishment, flexible MOQs, stable component supply and models positioned around proven commuter, trekking and e-MTB demand rather than speculative volume.
