Reported information
France’s Union des entreprises sport & cycle (UESC) reported an approximately 3% increase in bicycle sales volume in its panel during the first half of 2026. Electric-assist bicycles were identified as the driver of the rebound. The association also described further growth in cycling equipment, parts and accessories.
The scope matters: 3% refers to total bicycle sales in the UESC panel, not an e-bike-only growth rate. The public summary does not provide an exact e-bike increase, brand ranking or full-year forecast. It is a useful indicator, rather than proof of uniform recovery across all categories.
Industry interpretation
For brands and importers, this supports reviewing replenishment category by category. Ask distributors to separate commuter e-bikes, trekking models and electric mountain bikes in their sales reports, then compare recent demand with the age of remaining inventory.
The accessory signal also raises a practical question: can the next shipment serve existing riders as well as new-bike customers? A coordinated offer could include compatible racks, wear parts and clearly documented service items. Test that approach against dealer orders rather than assuming a national headline applies equally to every territory.
