Industry update

The German bicycle industry association ZIV reported that e-mountain bikes represented 38% of German e-bike sales by category in 2025. E-trekking models accounted for 24%, city bikes for 19%, and electric cargo bikes for 9.5%.

Why it matters

The data suggests that performance and recreational categories remain significant alongside practical mobility products. Category mix is a more useful planning input than a single overall market-growth figure.

Business implications for manufacturers and exporters

Build separate specifications and sales presentations for e-MTB, trekking and city segments rather than offering one model as a universal fit.
